1 — Iron Man's First Page: Don Heck's Tales of Suspense #39 Splash — $3,875,000
The biggest verified sale of the week wasn't a card or a comic — it was a single page of original art. Don Heck's page 1 splash from Tales of Suspense #39 (1963), the very first rendering of Tony Stark in the suit, sold for $3,875,000 at Heritage's Comic & Comic Art Signature event held July 9–12, per Overstreet Access. That's a new world auction record for original comic art, topping Mike Zeck's Secret Wars #8 page 25 (the black-suit Spider-Man reveal), which held the crown at $3,360,000 since January 2022. The four-day event totaled $21.1 million, with an Action Comics #1 CGC 4.5 clearing $1.5 million in the same sale. Heritage's Joe Mannarino put it plainly: very few early Marvel splash pages are known to exist, and "when one shows up, the market is ready to react."

2 — Luke Skywalker's Empire Strikes Back Lightsaber — $3,750,000
Heritage confirmed Wednesday, July 15 that Mark Hamill's screen-used Luke Skywalker lightsaber — the one from the "I am your father" duel in The Empire Strikes Back, complete with the severed-hand effects rig — sold for $3,750,000 in its Hollywood & Entertainment Signature Auction, per The Hollywood Reporter. It opened at $1 million with estimates topping out around $2 million, then nearly doubled the ceiling. That's a new world auction record for a screen-used Star Wars prop, passing the $3.135 million X-wing filming model from October 2023. The kicker is the provenance: the saber — a modified Graflex flash unit — descended directly from legendary makeup artist Stuart Freeborn, the man who built Yoda.

Fanatics Collect announced Tuesday, July 14 that it brokered a private sale of the 2018 Bowman Chrome Shohei Ohtani Superfractor rookie 1/1 (batting variation), graded BGS 9.5, for $3,365,000, per Sports Collectors Daily. No autograph, no patch — just the one-of-one rookie Superfractor. It's the most ever paid for an Ohtani card, beating the $3 million 2025 Topps Chrome MVP Gold Logoman from last December, and per Card Ladder it's the seventh sports card to clear $3 million in 2026. It's also the third seven-figure deal through Fanatics' private sales network in two months, following a $1.5M Messi rookie and the $5.1M Wembanyama Prizm Black.
