Three Pikachus, one Sunday auction, $9.66 million. Fanatics Collect's 245th Weekly Sunday Auction closed Sept. 28 and made the hobby's mascot the headline: a contest-prize promo near eight figures and two PSA 10 grails that blew past records only months old. Here's what sold, what the sources say, and what it actually signals.

1 — 2015 Japanese XY Promo Art Academy "Raincoat" Pikachu (PSA 10) — $8,400,000

The 2015 Pokémon Japanese XY Promo Art Academy Fujishima Pikachu #XY-P, graded PSA 10, sold for $8,400,000 (including Fanatics' 20% buyer's premium) after 64 bids, closing Sept. 28, per the Fanatics Collect lot page and Men's Journal. Dexerto calls it the second-most-expensive Pokémon card ever sold, behind Logan Paul's $16.49M Pikachu Illustrator in February.

Why it hit that number: it never reached a store shelf. Artist Y. Fujishima won the "Dress Up Pikachu" category of the 2014–15 Pokémon Art Academy contest, and the prize was 100 printed copies of the winning art, per Men's Journal and Dexerto. Collectr's post on the sale puts the PSA 10 population at 57. What stands out is how far it jumped: Dexerto cites earlier PSA 10 sales on Fanatics Collect at $12,600 (July 2024) and $19,200 (June 2025).

AOM signal: A pop-57 card went from five figures to $8.4M in about 15 months. That's one auction setting a new level, not proof the price will hold. Treat the next PSA 10 sale as the real test before you lean on this number.

2 — 2002 Legendary Collection Reverse Holo Pikachu #86 (PSA 10) — $780,000

Same auction, same Sunday close: a PSA 10 Legendary Collection reverse holo Pikachu sold for $780,000 with buyer's premium after 32 bids, per the Fanatics Collect lot page as reported by ComicBook.com. ComicBook.com tracks the prior record at $264,000 on June 29, 2026 (up from $204,000 two weeks before that), making this roughly a 195% jump in three months.

Why it hit that number: the "fireworks" reverse-holo foil has become a defining look of vintage Pokémon, and Gem Mint copies are thin. ComicBook.com reports PSA lists only 35 in a 10. Add 30th-anniversary Pikachu fever (Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration launched Sept. 16), and the mascot's loudest foil got bid like a trophy.

AOM signal: Two PSA 10s sold for $204K and $264K in June. This one hit $780K. Low-pop vintage is still repricing in big jumps, so check the most recent sale, not last quarter's, before you ask or offer.

3 — 2006 EX Holon Phantoms Pikachu Gold Star #104 (PSA 10) — $480,000

Rounding out the sweep, a PSA 10 Holon Phantoms Pikachu Gold Star closed at $480,000 with buyer's premium after 24 bids on Sept. 28, per the Fanatics Collect lot page. Men's Journal notes a PSA 10 sold at Goldin for $148,800 in February 2026; ComicBook.com found a $174,999.99 PSA 10 eBay sale on June 22 as the highest prior tracked result.

Why it hit that number: Gold Stars have been mid-era Pokémon's hottest category in 2026, with Torchic and Mudkip pushing into seven figures in September, per ComicBook.com. Pikachu is the most recognizable Gold Star ever printed. Its PSA 10 pop of 119 is far deeper than the other two cards here, and buyers paid up anyway.

AOM signal: The deepest-pop card of the three still sold for more than 2.5x its prior high. When a whole category reprices, watch the higher-pop cards. They show whether buyers are paying for the card itself or just for scarcity.

Just outside the window: Goldin's Monthly Sports Elite closed Sept. 26 (extended bidding ran into early Sept. 27), led by Shohei Ohtani's 2026 Topps Chrome Gold MLB Logoman Auto 1/1 redemption at $2,848,700, per Auction Report.
