If you opened packs between middle school and your first real job, this board is about your binder. On Sunday, November 1, Fanatics Collect's Weekly Auction #250 and Goldin's TCG Weekly closed within hours of each other, and twelve Pokémon cards from 2002 to 2007 sold for $200,000 or more. Here's the full board, what moved since the last public sale, and what to check before you chase one. Signals, not appraisals.

What we mean by "EX era"

We're grouping the English cards printed from 2002 to 2007: Legendary Collection, the e-Card sets starting with Expedition, the EX series, and that period's promos and prize cards. These are the cards that came after the Base Set boom. Fewer of them got graded early, and the Gem Mint copies are thin.

The board: November 1, 2026, $200,000 and up

Prices include buyer's premium. Fanatics lots sold Nov. 1; Goldin's Mewtwo closed at 9:54 PM CST Nov. 1 and the Trophy Pikachu at 1:44 AM CST Nov. 2 after extended bidding. The Charizard's Fanatics title says 2003; its PSA label says 2006.

What moved since the last public sale

Card (PSA 10)Earlier resultNov. 1Direction
Gold Star Charizard$393,000 at Alt, September (ComicBook.com)$408,000Up
Gold Star Pikachu (Holon Phantoms)$480,000 at Fanatics, Sept. 28 (lot)$264,000Down
Aquapolis Crystal Lugia$360,000 at Fanatics, Oct. 18 (lot, via ComicBook.com)$240,000Down

ComicBook.com also reported PSA 10 Crystal Lugias at $336,000 on Oct. 11 and $148,511 in August. So in about ten weeks, that card went $148,511 → $360,000 → $240,000.

AOM signal: The whole era is bid, but not every card is going up. Charizard held its band. Pikachu Gold Star gave back $216,000 from its September print, and Crystal Lugia gave back $120,000 from its October high. When a run gets this hot, the second and third copies to surface tell you more than the record does.

The same-night lesson: two Mewtwos

Two PSA 10 Gold Star Mewtwos sold within the same Sunday window: $228,000 at Fanatics (29 bids) and $207,400 at Goldin (71 bids). Same card, same grade, $20,600 apart. More bids didn't mean a higher price. Each auction is its own room.

Before you chase an EX-era card

  1. Run the cert on PSA Verify, or CGC's and Beckett's lookups, and match the label to the photos.
  2. Comp the exact card and grade, then check the date. A September result may already be stale.
  3. Watch for title errors. This week's Charizard was listed as 2003; the slab says 2006. Read the label, not the headline.
  4. Look at the trend, not the top. Use at least two recent sales before you trust any number.
